The CAG is a non denominational, 501(c)(3) non profit, all volunteer, charitable organization. It is controlled by an 11 member Board of Directors and has operated continually since being incorporated in 1966. As necessary, the CAG refers clients to appropriate sources for ongoing assistance. A Thrift Shop, Food Bank, Back to School help, and Santa Shop are the primary programs operated by the CAG.

The mission of the CAG is to provide immediate crisis assistance to persons, residing in Golden, CO, through contributions made by the community.

  • Snow closure will follow Jeffco School closure schedule.


The Thrift Shop was established as an outlet for good, clean, used clothing and household articles and is open to the public. All proceeds from the sale of donated items provide additional funding to meet the needs of CAG clients.

Back to School:

Children from families in crises receive clothing, shoes, and school supplies at the beginning of each school year.

Santa Shop:

Participants for the annual Santa Shop are by referral only.

The Food Bank is available to any Golden resident who is in a crisis situation. Our clients include families on various assistance programs, senior citizens on limited budgets, college students, and other referred persons. It is stocked through the cooperative efforts of individuals, local merchants and businesses, food drives from various schools, scout troops, churches, law enforcement agencies, City of Golden, the Lions Club, Golden Rotary, Miller-Coors, Greater Golden Chamber of Commerce, Golden Civic Foundation, and Rolling Hills Foundation, as well as others. Thank you all!

Food Bank recipient requirements:

CAG paperwork must be filled out in person, a letter of referral (stating that the person writing said letter has knowledge of client's need), and client's proof of current address.

Food can be picked up once per month, depending on needs of client. All paperwork is effective for one year, unless client moves out of Golden.


Items for the Thrift Shop, Food Bank, or Santa Shop are received throughout the year. They may be left at 1401 Ford St, Golden, during operating hours. All monetary donations are 100% tax deductible.


The CAG is staffed by volunteers who work in the Food Bank and Thrift Shop. ALL volunteers MUST sign a statement of confidentiality.
